NEWS- In a heartwarming gesture of generosity, Jane Tumushabe, an old girl from Bugongi Primary School, through Mercy Twikirize the Director Hadassah Girls Empowerment project has donated over 83 school bags amounting Ugx 1.8million to pupils of Bugongi Primary School in need to support their education.
Most of the pupils at Bugongi Primary School with an enrollment of about 400 pupils, located in Bugongi upper in Northern division in Kabale municipality, has been grappling with a lack of enough essential school supplies, hindering the pupils’ ability to study effectively.
They have for long been forced to carry their books and materials in hands and sometimes in polythene bags, leading to frequent loss and damage of their books and materials.
Henry Mayanja, the Head teacher of Bugongi Primary School who expressed his gratitude to Tumushabe for her thoughtful donation called upon other former students to follow her example and support their school explaining the importance of alumni involvement in improving the quality of education for current students.

The pupils including Comfort Akatwijuka, Blessing Akatwijuka and Joshua Owamaani all from primary seven shared their past experiences before receiving the school bags and other scholastic materials.
The trio heighted the challenges they had faced due to the lack of proper equipment like losing books and other study materials, making it difficult for them to keep up with their studies explaining that this time it will be minimized.

Speaking to our reporter, Mercy Twikirize who represented Jane Tumushabe and school alumni in Kampala to deliver these items revealed that this donation has brought huge relief to the pupils and their families not only to protect their books but also instill a sense of pride and motivation in the pupils.
He encouraged the pupils to pursue their education with renewed enthusiasm adding that not only Bugongi primary school pupils need these items but many children need empowerment in order to have an effective education.
