NEWS- The Police in Ibanda district have registered a case of murder by stabbing of Gumisiriza Amos, a male adult, peasant resident of Rushambya cell Kashozi Parish Ishongororo sub county inIbanda.
It is alleged that Gumisiriza was stabbed to death with a sharp object by his wife Atuhaire Justin on Tuesday 30th July 2024 at about 5Pm.
Atuhaire was also grabbed by locals as she tried run away from the scene beating her up badly but she was rescued by Police on receiving the information rushing her to Ishongororo HC IV for treatment. However, she was later pronounced dead shortly after.
Its alleged Atuhaire Justin went to Saudi Arabia for work. While there, she kept sending her money to the husband Gumisiriza Amos for development purposes. However when she returned recently, she found out that the husband had used the money to marry another woman.
According to the Rwizi region Police spokesman SP Samson Kasasira, this angered her, stabbing the husband in the neck with a sharp object leading to his death.
Atuhaire then tried to run away from the scene but was grabbed by locals that are yet to be identified that beat her up badly before she was rescued by the Police to Ishongororo HC IV for treatment but she never survived.
Kasasira stressed that both bodies are at Ishongororo HC IV mortuary pending postmortem examination.
Police has not made any arrests of those involved in the mob action but inquiries into the matter are still ongoing according to Kasasira.
