NEWS- The harsh climatic changes in Kasese District has forced Hearts of Gold Kasese Forum a nongovernmental organization in the District to run a tree planting campaign which will see over 1000 trees planted.
Mr. Sam Baluku, the association’s chairperson, Burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests and farming livestock are increasingly influencing the climate and the earth’s temperature. This adds enormous amounts of greenhouse gases to those naturally occurring in the atmosphere, increasing the greenhouse effect and global warming.
He says the above can be converted if a tree campaign is run to plant more trees along green belts and also along the water channels across the district. The development was revealed yesterday evening at the official louchning of their association at Bwiranda Hotel in Kasese town.
Rev. Fr. Joseph Tumusiime the Diocesan Vocations Director who also doubles as the Youth chaplain of Diocese of Kasese in his remarks, asked the members to observe transparity, unity and also work for peace as one of the pillars that could lead to the sustainability of the associations projects.
Lt. Joe walusimbe who was the chief guest, who appreciated the association’s missions and objectives, asked the leadership to avoid politicizing the association.
Other programs the association intends to implement includes an annual sports gala, youth conferences and Road safety campaigns among others.
Still in Kasese, residents of Kyasenda I village of Karambi parish in Karambi sub-county in Kasese district on Sunday morning woke up in misery when they sighted a corpse at Babughirana trading center.
The locals told us that the dead person was not immediately identified because he did not have anything that could help them to know he was. Ventino Kambasu explained that the deceased was facing down and when police arrived at the scene of crime, a fresh wound was seen on the person’s forehead.
Kambasu could not immediately verify if the deceased was hit by any object. However, Kambasu disclosed that a woofer was seen a few meters from where the deceased was found but he could still not link the death to the discovery of that music system.
Kambasu added that police at Karambi sub county headquarters immediately alerted their sister police officers at Bwera Divisional Police headquarters.
Later, the body of the unknown person in his early 40s was picked and then conveyed to Bwera government hospital for a postmortem. This means that whoever might be having a missing person should visit Bwera government hospital mortuary to check the unclaimed body.
