KANUNGU– The Diocese of Kinkiizi has announced a series of appointments and transfers for clergy members during a Diocesan Council meeting held at Ngoto Island Tourism Hub, Bwindi, on 3rd January 2025.

The meeting, chaired by Rt. Rev. Dan Zoreka, Bishop of the Diocese, focused on strategic decisions, including clergy assignments, a diocesan report, and updates on the ongoing University Project.

 *Key Appointments and Transfers* 

The following clergy appointments and transfers were announced:

1. *Leadership Appointments:* 

Bishop’s Commissary: *Rev. Can. Enos Mukombe* .

 *Fathers’ Union Coordinator:* Rev. Can. Johnson Turyagyenda. 

  Mr. Solomon Mfitumukiza as *Assistant Missions and Evangelism Coordinator.* 

 *Hospital Chaplain and Human Resource Manager:* Rev. Elizabeth Akandinda Kamara.

2. *Parish Transfers:* 

Rev. Can. Patrick Habasa to *Nyakinoni as Archdeacon.* 

Rev. Boaz Turyatunga to serve *as parish priest for Kangarame* in addition to his role as Diocesan Planning and Development Officer.

Rev. Ezra transferred from *Kangarame to Kishenyi COU.* 

Rev. Can. Peace assigned to *Kinyangwe COU.* 

Rev. Amos transferred to *Bugiri COU.* 

Rev. Jack Kiconco to *Bukunga COU.* 

Rev. Esau Ensi-nehinduka posted to *Ntungwa COU.* 

Rev. Alfred Nsenga to *Kajugangoma COU.* 

Rev. Isabella Ampumuza to *Rukarara COU.* 

Rev. Naume Kanyesigye to *St. Andrews Kihiihi Parish as Vicar.* 

Rev. Alex Aharimpisya assigned to *Rwangoboka COU,* a newly established parish.

3. *Additional Responsibilities and Recall of Retired Clergy:* 

Rev. Saasi Benjamin appointed as *Diocesan Investment Officer.* 

Rev. Ntampanvu Senior to serve as parish priest for *Kibimbiri COU Parish* .

Rev. Can. Lawrence Birohizo *retained as Archdeacon for Nyamirama.* 

Rev. Can. Levi Turinawe to serve as *Archdeacon for All Saints Church – Kanungu* .

Rev. Prisca Karuru to continue serving at *Karangara Parish* .

Rev. John Bashemeire (Kukyindama) maintained at his current parish.

Missioner Godfrey Byamukama *added responsibility for Nyamirengyere Parish.* 

Rev. Lowland Akampurira *appointed Chaplain for Nyakabungo Girls SS,* alongside his role as Diocesan Cashier.

 Implementation Timeline we see 

Clergy members are to collect their appointment letters on *7th January 2025* .

Official handovers are scheduled for *9th January 2025.

Clergy will relocate to their new parishes on 10th January 2025.

Progress on the University Project

The Council received updates on the progress of the *AUSM* African University of Science and Management, an initiative by the Diocese in partnership with Bwindi Community Hospital, Uganda Nursing School – Bwindi, and Uganda Institute of Health Sciences – Bwindi. This project aims to advance education and healthcare in the region.

Call for Unity

In his address, Bishop Dan Zoreka called on clergy and laity to embrace unity in ministry, emphasizing collaboration as a cornerstone for effective service in the Diocese.

The Diocesan Council meeting highlighted the commitment of Kinkiizi Diocese to fostering spiritual growth, community development, and educational advancement.
