NTUNGAMO- The Rushenyi County Member of Parliament Hon. Naome Kabashari has said that rationalisation of government agencies will cripple service delivery to the people in the rural areas especially distribution of electricity.
Kabasharira’s remarks were echoed during the thanks giving, birthday jubilation of the Orthodox Church Bishop Wenceslas Tumuhimbise and fundraising for construction of the permanent church, Saint Stevens church in Nyihanga cell, Kyabukuju ward in Rubaare town council.
Kabashari said that the project of Rural Electrification Agency was to extend electricity from the national grid to local communities but currently unable to access clean energy in order to spur improved economic and social development in a sustainable way.
She urged that since it was merged into the Ministry of Energy during the saga of rationalization of government agencies. The legislator said that during the caucus meeting, they failed to agree to have some of the government agencies to be rationalized because they saw it going to kill service delivery.
She added that since the rationalization of Rural Electrification Agency with the Ministry of Energy, there was no more electricity pole that was erected countrywide and that even where the agency had put the electricity has since been never commissioned.
The legislator also responded to the issue of government donating vehicles to Bishops from Anglican Church, Catholics and even Sheiks in Muslims but others put aside like the Orthodox and Pentecostals, that she will forward it to the parliament.
Her remarks came after the function organizer father Robert Baruku of Saint Stevens Orthodox Church raised concern of lack of electricity in the area and putting aside the Orthodox Bishops to get the same privilege of other Bishops from other religions, like Vehicles to ease them in transportation.
He added that over Ugx 500 million is needed to start the construction.
The Bishop of Order of saint Benedict Kasese Diocese John Musonge called for truthfulness, stressing that is a foundation of everything.
Bishop Wenceslas Tumuhimbise was celebrating his 48th birthday and thanking God for Five years in service doing his work in the Orthodox Church that started in Russia.
