KAMPALA- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Tuesday January 21st 2025 hosted a team from Emirates Airlines, led by their Country Manager, Mr Mohammed Taher.

The meeting took place at State Hhouse Entebbe and the team that included Executive Officers from the Emirates Airlines are currently touring Uganda to explore its beauty and rich culture. 

During the conversation, President Museveni shared insights about Uganda’s unique features and was glad that they will experience these wonders firsthand during their visit. 

The President warmly welcome them to Uganda and urged them to look beyond the Airlines business by combining it the tourism potential the country has. 

Mr Taher thanked President Museveni for welcoming his team to Uganda and assured him that their findings will further strengthen the already existing working relationship between their organisation and Uganda as a country. 

The Emirates Airlines delegation visit to Uganda comes just a few days after President Museveni concluded a 3 day visit to the United Arab Emirates where he attended the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), a global platform that addresses the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges.

While in Abu Dhabi President Museveni visited His Highness Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah who presented a sketch map of Kidepo Airport and thanked President Museveni for his visit and commended his efforts in transforming Uganda’s economy.

During his visit, President Museveni engaged in numerous activities, including witnessing the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between the Government of Uganda and the United Arab Emirates and the first involves the construction of the Emirates Eye Hospital in Entebbe, signed by Vincent Bagiire, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Government of Uganda and Excellency Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organisations, signed on behalf of the United Arab Emirates government.

The second MOU pertains to investment cooperation in the rail and transport sector and was signed by Hon Kiryowa Kiwanuka, the Attorney General, Hon Kiryowa Kiwanuka on behalf of the Government of Uganda and  His Excellency Mohammed Hassan Al Suwaidi, Minister of Investment, signed the MOU on behalf of the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

The signing ceremony was attended by dignitaries including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, and Dr Ramathan Ggoobi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health Dr Diana Atwiine along with Ambassador Zaake  Kibedi, Uganda’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
