NEWS- Refugees from Rhino Camp in Acea, Madiokolo District and Invepi settlements in Terego District have been urged to maintain peace and uphold human rights as they interact with the local community. This appeal was made by Commissioner of Police Anatoli Muleterwa, who oversees Community Policing in Uganda Police, during a sensitization drive in the region.
Commissioner Muleterwa emphasized the need to protect vulnerable groups, particularly women, girls, and refugees, encouraging them to report issues to authorities rather than resorting to violence. He also urged refugees to respect the rights of others and contribute to peaceful coexistence.
The Commissioner was accompanied by senior police officers from the Community Affairs Department spearheading efforts to address Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in the region. The sensitization drive kicked off with talk shows on Arua One FM and Radio Pacis FM in Arua City.
This initiative is supported by the European Union and supervised by the Justice, Law, and Order Sector (JLOS), aiming to promote peace and justice within the refugee settlements and the surrounding community.
