NEWS– The Police in Rukiga District have registered a fatal accident that took place at Rubogo village in Kibanda Parish in Kamwezi Subcounty leaving one person dead.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the accident and identified the deceased as Muhirwe Amos, a resident of Rubogo village Kibanda parish Kamwezi Sub County in Rukiga District.
Maate told journalists that it’s alleged that while the deceased was driving his animals back home, an unknown speeding vehicle driven by un known driver knocked him from behind killing him on spot.
The Police have attributed the accident to reckless driving after visiting the scene and documentation by Police Traffic Team and Officer in charge of Kamwezi Police Station. Efforts to arrest the run away driver are underway.
The accident was registered at Rukiga District Central Police Station under reference number TAR 06/2024 to help in investigations.
