KAMPALA- The Uganda Police Interpol have rescued an Indian national and chef who allegedly went missing two months ago and found himself in Uganda before being smuggled to Tanzania by his abductors.
The Acting Police Interpol Director, Senior Commissioner Joseph Obwona has identified the victim as Kumesh Menaria, who worked in Switzerland since 2007, before being kidnapped and held captive in Uganda. Menaria’s troubles began after a disagreement with his boss, leading to his abduction and transportation to Uganda, where he was secretly held in a Luweero industry.
After his flown to Uganda, his son Mukesh Kumar Mineria lost contact with him and contacted the Swiss authorities, which also reached out to Ugandan Interpol.
On September 30th September, following the lead, Ugandan Interpol raided a factory in Luweero owned by Pankaj Oswal, but Kumesh wasn’t found there.
He explains that the victim was reportedly smuggled out of the factory in the same night via Mutukula porous border point to Tanzania, where he was detained at Kyaka Police station in the Northern part of Tanzania on forged charges of theft.
