NEWS- The Police in Kanungu District have arrested a 16 year old girl identified as Ayera Shivan a Bar attendant at KABO Star Bar and Lodges and resident of Ibambiro village in Rusoroza Parish in Kihihi Sub County in connection with alleged murder of a 7 months child.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that it’s alleged the suspect had a quarrel with the coworker Tushabe Joelia and the mother of the deceased after which Ayera assured Tushabe, how she shouldn’t fight when she has an idiotic child disturbing them.

It is reported that Tushabe didn’t take her threats seriously and later left the bar premises to go and sleep only to find her child whom she had left sleeping not responding and upon further examination, she discovered that the baby had some whitish fluid coming out of the nose and mouth and this prompted her to seek help from the neighbors who upon examining the baby discovered that the child had died.

Maate said that the scene of crime was visited by the OC Station of Kihihi Police Station, SOCO and a team of homicide detectives and documented and relevant statements recorded and the body was conveyed to Kihihi Health Center IV Mortuary and postmortem examination was done. 

Maate confirmed that Ayera Shivan was arrested for questioning and investigations are ongoing with a view of identifying the real suspect and prosecuting them in the courts of law.

Meanwhile the Police in Rukiga District are investigating circumstances under which a 40 years old man identified as Atwebembere Christopher was allegedly assaulted to death.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the incident and said that the deceased, a resident of Mushunga village in Nyakashebeya Parish in Kashambya Sub-county Rukiga District, was assaulted by yet to be known.

It is reported that the deceased and his brother Twinomujuni Francis left the burial place in the neighborhood and went to the bar of Turyasiima Denis together with other four people and started drinking and later Twinomujuni went  home leaving the deceased with  the four people drinking and the deceased left the bar and went home.

However, the deceased was yesterday morning found dead in a pool of blood along Ruyumbu Kashambya road with a deep wound at the left side of the face with damaged skull.

Maate said that the Police were informed and the scene of crime was visited, processed and documented and statements recorded from witnesses and the body was conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination, where it was later handed over to the relatives for burial.
