Rev. Andrew Newman and his wife, Margie Newman have bid farewell to the Bishop’s Office staff during a dinner held at Heritage Country Hotel as they prepare to return to their home country after six years of missionary service in the North Kigezi Diocese.
The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, commended the Newmans for their faithful service, describing Rev. Andrew as spiritually grounded and a dependable leader who contributed greatly to Canon Ndimbirwe Bible College (CNBC).
He said they had been “the beautiful feet” that brought the Good News to the Diocese and noted that they were not leaving as people defeated, but as those who had accomplished their mission. He also encouraged Rev. Grace Arinda, who has been appointed the Acting Principal of CNBC, reminding her that God qualifies those He calls.
Maama Florence Asiimwe appreciated the Newmans for their sacrifice, commitment, and hospitality, describing them as faithful and authentic followers of Christ whose ministry had greatly blessed the Diocese.
The Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Munturive, thanked the couple for their dedicated service and lasting contribution to CNBC and the Diocese.
Rev. Grace Arinda briefly appreciated the Newmans for their leadership and contribution to the growth of CNBC, highlighting achievements such as the attainment of a provisional licence from the National Council for Higher Education and improvements to the institution’s infrastructure.
Margie Newman expressed gratitude for the love and generosity shown to them throughout their stay, while Rev. Andrew Newman thanked Bishop Onesimus and the Diocese for their support, saying their ministry had been enriched by the people’s spirituality, culture, and fellowship. He encouraged Christians to remain united in prayer and keep their focus on Christ with their minds set on the things above and not the desires and demands of the flesh.
