NEWS- The Traffic Police in Kabale District have registered a fatal accident involving a passenger taxi registration number UBL 327M whose driver fled the scene and is not yet unknown.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the accident and said that one person identified as 40 year old Agaba Innocent a teacher at Kyogo Secondary School Kabale and a resident of Kakuga village in Rutare Ward in Muhanga Town Council in Rukiga District died.
Maate also explained that 7 male adults and 6 female adults whose particulars are not yet known due to their critical condition were seriously injured.
Maate told journalists that it’s alleged that the driver of the vehicle was driving from Kabale town heading to Mbarara and when he reached Kabaraga village after the fresh food station, he lost control and overturned the vehicle several times.
The scene of the accident was visited Kabale District Traffic Officer Mucunguzi Wilson and and team and the body was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem examination and all victims are admited at the same hospital in critical condition.
The traffic Police drew a sketch plan, and the motor vehicle was towed and parked at Kabale Central Police Station pending IoV inspection and preliminary investigations have belamed the accident on over speeding as investigations continue to hunt to the runaway driver who is still at large.
Just yesterday one person has died at the same spot and others were injured following a road traffic accident that occurred at Kabaraga along Kabale – Ntungamo Road in Kabale District.
Yesterday’s accident involved motor vehicles registration number UA 156AM -T UA 165AA SINO TRUCK and UAZ 774S and the deceased was identified as 45 year old Nabimanya Naboth a resident of Bukinda Rukiga district who was aboard the SINO truck.
