KAMPALA- Robert Kyagulanyi, President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has accepted President Museveni’s challenge to take him to court over allegations of rigging the 2021 general elections.
During the memorial service for the late Gen Aronda Nyakairima on Thursday, President Museveni made surprising accusations against the National Unity Platform (NUP), claiming they rigged the 2021 elections by a margin of one million votes.
He asserted that he possesses evidence to support his claims and dared NUP to take him to court if they disputed the allegations. This move caught many in the political arena off guard, as NUP has long maintained that President Museveni’s camp was responsible for electoral fraud, insisting that they were the legitimate winners of the 2021 elections.
In a scathing response, Robert Kyagulanyi, has accepted President Museveni’s challenge to prove the extent of electoral malpractice in the 2021 Ugandan elections.
Kyagulanyi vowed to pursue justice, calling for a comprehensive, transparent, and independent audit of the electoral process, conducted by a renowned international organization such as the United Nations.
In his response letter, Kyagulanyi asserts that the NUP stands prepared to furnish conclusive evidence exposing the Museveni regime’s egregious electoral malpractices.
He has issued a challenge, pledging that if the audit uncovers any wrongdoing by NUP, they will submit to legal consequences. However, if the audit clears NUP and implicates the Museveni administration in electoral malpractices, President Museveni will be obliged to resign from office.
