NEWS– President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces has promoted a total of 382 and confirmed 13 Senior and Junior Officers in the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF).
According to a press statement released by the UPDF and Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Spokesman Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye, those promoted include one Colonel Charles Oluka who now becomes a Brigadier.
Others included 4 Officers who have been Acting Colonels and now become substantive Colonels and these are Alfred Mbogo, Allan Abaho Rubarita, Jacob Abaho Mugarrura and Harlod Obura and Patrick Okema.
According to the statement signed by Brig Gen Kulayigye, 18 officers were promoted from Lt Col to Colonel and these include Moses Emeru, David Munyua, Emmanuel Katabazi, George Buga, Charles Asiimwe Kibaate, Joseph Aliganyira, Patrice Ajiku, Charles Ndawula, Danstan Serubiri, Jackson Kakuru, and Ian Mwesigwa.
Others are Alex Bright Nzirimu, David Gafa, Hebert Mwetegya, Ronald Oloya Orombi, Ezekiel Katatembeya, Ronald Turyamubona and William Wabwire Mulondo while Alfred Mbogo,William Mpaka, Polly Kamwesiga, Innocent Tukashaba and James Kiiza were made Acting Lt Colonels.
Among the officers promoted 61were promoted from Major to Lt Col, 2 were made Acting Majors, 92 were promoted from Captain to Major, two were made Acting Captain while 210 were promoted from Lieutenant to Captain.
