As a mode of making learning French easy and fun out  of the normal setting of the four walls and black  or white board.

The Association of  Teachers of French ( APFO) has organized the third edition of Camps Lupides Francophiles Uganda ( CALUFU) aimed at improving learning interdeem  with the new curriculum.

The Students were taught with holistic approaches to matters in catering, fashion, leadership skills, team building and many other facets.

The five- day camp gathered over 250 students from various  schools around that were hosted at St.Maria Goretti  Katende.

In her remarks Margaret Kyambadde, Headteacher, the host school thanked the board of governor’s for allowing them to have accept CALUFU.

” We are making 60 years next year and we welcome you as  a team and I can tell you are lucky to study French because some of us can not due to  our age and schedule.” Kyambadde said.

She also  encouraged the students to learn and speak French so that you are known for it and this will be a  good  stepping stone for opportunities.

The  President Association of Teachers of French,  Dr. Agatha  Tumwine Magezi noted that   nation building concerns us all and as the people in the education sector  we are playing our role.

” Iam  happy you are  here and it good for for me to be back  since I did my  school practice here and  now  home.  As to teachers , we have  to guide  the students so that they can be our ambassadors.

We want learners who are not limited by language and these can be in any field, we are also encouraging the students know their local languages. We want people who all balanced in Finance,  education, spiritually, emotionally and many others spheres.

Dr. Tumwine  empthasised that they learn french outside the class room and this camp is  where you meet all and learn with the rest with focus focus on soft skills like team building, public speaking and many others.

Dr .Enock Ssebuyungo,  head of department  European and Oriental Languages at Makerere  University recalled that he  attended the previous camp in Seeta Mukono and I will continue coming for more forth coming ones. 

” Our role is to bridge the gap between other nations and Uganda. 

We train Ugandans  to be very proficient and this brings collaboration among these nations.

CALUFU is wonderful and some of the students  have done very many things in cooking , football , music and dance together with  many other things that  maks learning  far away from  the four walls and this is the right stage to learn and this time is not wasted and but  invested”. Dr.Ssebuyungo Asserted.

He also stressed that he has been able to travel to very many countries because of the French language which is international and assured them that it will open opportunities for them across the world.

Mr .Deogratious Ssekyole, District Education officer, who was also the guest of Honor was grateful to the schools that were able to send their students to Mpigi not forgetting the host school for their hospitality.

He also advised the teachers to have learning more fun  and interesting so that they can have very many numbers  studying French because he has seen and witnessed the power of knowing multiple languages when he travelled out  to the extent  of getting lost and nearly missing the conferences he had gone for.

Jeremiah  Aliganyira, a student in Senior two from Seeta High School said that  he has been able to learn some new words in French outside the class in a very calm way since they have been playing football, net ball, baking sessions and many others.

The Camp had various schools that represented such as St . Peter’s Nsambya , St Henry College  Kitivu, St Augustine Wakiso, Namilyango College, St Joseph Nagalama  and many others .
