NEWS- The State Minister for Health in -charge of Primary Health care has rallied the residents in Kasese district to gear their efforts towards fighting teenage pregnancies from their communities.

Hon. Margret Muhanga made the remarks last evening while officiating at the commissioning of St. Paul’s Hospital. The commissioning of the hospital services was held at Kamaiba Youth Center in Kasese.

Minister Muhanga explained that Kasese and some other districts are registering high cases of teenage pregnancies among the school going children, arguing that the vice has increased the rate of maternal deaths, because the girls bear pregnancies when they are not ready.

The Minister also told the parents to ensure that their children keep in schools and reach completion.

Earlier in his remarks, the Kasese District Vice Chairperson, Mr. Ham Natuhwera had told the minister that Kasese was registering high numbers of the people who die sat the delivery time.

He, however, attributed the challenge to the lack of enough improved health centers especially in the mountainous communities.
