MP Wilfred Niwagaba

NEWS- Parents have been encouraged to rally their children to join seminaries so that the Catholic Church can get a reasonable number of priests for the growing congregation.

The call was made by Hon Wilfred Niwagaba Rugamba’amazima, the Ndorwa East constituency MP during the celebration of the First Mass and Thanksgiving of Rev Fr Innocent Kanyesigye at Kacuro primary school in Kyanamira center, Rushoroza cathedral parish, Kyanamira sub county Kabale district.

Fr Innocent Kanyesigye is one of the six deacons who were ordained priests on Sunday at Rushoroza cathedral BAAF grounds by Rt. Rev Bp Callist Rubaramira the Bishop Kabale diocese.

Hon Niwagaba called upon the students to join major seminaries saying that we have 440k priests worldwide only to serve over 1.2bn Catholics.

Hon Niwagaba called upon Christians to use the available land for subsistence farming, showing concern over those who are starving yet they have practiced tree planting instead of using the land for producing crops for food and some for income.

Hon Niwagaba further urged Christians to shun narcotics and alcohol, and to work hard to avoid going on streets and stealing.

At the same function, Hon Catherine Ndamira Atwakiire Owabodingi, the Kabale district woman MP called upon Fr Innocent to be a true ambassador of Kabale Diocese, always pray for the Diocese, and also to make sure he keeps the Glory of Kabale diocese.

Hon Catherine Ndamira also urged Christians to embrace household income, at least have something at home to bring you income.

Fr Arinaitwe Silvester in his homily urged Christians to accept the call of God, as he calls us for different missions.

Fr Silvester advised Fr innocent to be ready to accept the challenges in the mission, but be firm, always pray to God to lead him and listen to his voice and to build the church of God through offering sacraments, saying that Christians are hungry, and need sacraments.

He further urged Christians to practice repentance in the sacrament of penance and remain in the same line with Jesus.

Hon Nshangabasheija Nelson Baba Baba, the Kabale district governor congratulated Fr. Innocent for such a milestone and hailed the honourable MPs Catherine Ndamira Atwakiire owabodingi and Hon Wilfred Niwagaba Rugamba’amazima for the team work in making Kabale district shine, especially in the Roads, health among others urging Christians to be patient where there’s still need.

Fr. Innocent Kanyesigye, in his first Mass hailed everyone who supported and cooperated with him in preparations for this day especially for the prayers that have lifted him up to today.

Fr. Innocent hailed Hon Wilfred Niwagaba Rugamba’amazima and hon Catheline Ndamira Atwakiire owabodingi for their support and assistance in his studies and pledged to always pray blessings to them to serve their electorates diligently.
