KASESE- As Monday, February 3rd 2025 marked the first official day of first term, learners at Unique valley primary school in Central Division of Kasese Municipality woke up to sock when they found heavy deployment of police at their school premises.

This follows a disagreement between the school administration and the land lord Nyakatonzi cotton grower’s cooperative limited on allegations of failing to pay rent.

The Rwenzori East region police Liaisons’ officer SP Luke Mbusa says they deployed to calm the situation since Nyakatonzi had come with over fifty workers to storm the school.

Julius Kambere the vice chairperson board at Nyakatonzi cotton grower’s cooperative limited says they are demanding over ninety millions rent arrears from Unique valley primary school for the last eight years.

According to him, they want to use their structures for other projects however he didn’t reveal them to the press.

Some of the parents, who had come to the school to register their children, appealed to the leaders to harmonies the situation so that their children are attended too.

By press time Unique valley primary school hadn’t released any statement about the situation because they were still in an indoor meeting about the same cause.
