NTUNGAMO- It was a drama and abomination when once a sacred space for priestly thanks giving ceremony and celebrating the success of ones ordained as Catholic priest have become an unlikely battleground for political ideologies and de campaigning each other.
The situation has left many ceremony attendees feeling divided, disrespected, and distraught.
This was on 8th, March 2025 during the priestly thanks giving ceremony of Fr. Selenzio Katusiime in Nyarwanya parish Rubaare sub County-Ntungamo district.
It started when incumbent Member of Parliament for Rushenyi County Hon Naome Kabasharira used the opportunity to address the attendees and called aspirants at all political levels to get a platform and talk about themselves disguising her of not being jealousy to any aspirant for her seat or any party affiliation.
When Mr Jonan Muhumuza who is in the heated race for Rushenyi County got on a microphone appealed to the Incumbent Naome Kabasharira to step down and leave the race for new aspirants because is becoming a challenging factor to them. He added that if the incumbent steps down he can manage where to take her and fill comfortable rather than keeping in the race yet is in diminishing years.
Time came in, after all have introduced themselves the Incumbent Ms Kabasharira resumed the platform and informed Mr Muhumuza that he should contact other aspirants to teach him how to speak, however he thanked him for donating white iron sheets to Kaina primary school which she termed them “Ag’Eseenene” but she challenged him that she has also donated there iron sheets of which she didn’t describe the type of iron sheets donated that left many questions among the attendees, “why?” yet she described her co aspirant.
Ms Kabasharira therefore urged parents and children to embrace priesthood, because are optimistic that having more priests in the area demonstrate development through their evangelism.
Mr Jonan Muhumuza gifted the ordained priest with 1M and asked him to pursue the word of God diligently.
Ambrose Kyenjoga thanked his brother Fr Selenzio Katusiime to welcome Jesus as his Savior and ready to serve diligently all believers since it is a call from God.
Fr Selenzio Katusiime promised to respond to priesthood call and he will serve without discrimination.
Rev Fr Selenzio Katusiime will not be serving in Uganda but in a parish called Mkokozi in Dar es salaam Tanzania
