NEWS- The Community in Sheema District has been advised to be extra careful, alert and security conscious in this festive season.
Resident District Commission RDC Muhindo Prekelia told the press that the people’s security begins with them in their homes citing an example of the murder of ten people in Kyabandara in Kamwengye District by the Suspected ADF rebels recently.
RDC Muhindo said that for any church to hold an overnight and bars playing very loud music in Sheema District must seek permission from the office of the Inspector General of Police saying that wrong doers will use that noise and heavy sounds to execute their negative goals.
She went ahead to advise Kabwohe residents to install security lights and church owners to employ the use of metal detectors to avoid terrorism that is possible in crowded places.
ASP Twesigye Caleb the Sheema district liaison officer told people to be vigilant as there are so many crimes expected in this festive season for example highway robberies, cattle theft among others all as a result of festivities.
Twesigye advised people not to look at Christmas and New Year’s Day as any other day without being security conscious, advising them to avoid carrying large amounts of cash money and unnecessary movements in the night.
Meantime, the Police in Rubanda district have launched investigations to ascertain circumstances surrounding the death of a 22-year-old man from Rwamajongo cell, Igomanda parish, Hamurwa sub-county in Rubanda district.
The deceased has been identified as Christopher Tushabirane, a resident of Rwamajongo cell, Igomanda parish, Hamurwa sub-county, Rubanda district.
This tragic incident occurred on 21st December 2023 at around 7am when his lifeless body was discovered in a trench near the swamp of Kashekyera trading center, Kashekyera cell.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson told the press that at around 7am, Sunday Benadet, 58 year old, was going to the garden when she saw a male human body lying in a trench at the scene. She got scared and alerted the chairperson of the local council, who mobilized the locals.
They identified the body as that of the victim, the son of Ahimbisibwe Godfrey, with several wounds on the head.
Maate confirmed that when the father immediately alerted the police, inquiries were initiated. The scene was visited, documented, and a postmortem was done at the scene. The body was then handed over to relatives for burial.
Maate, however, added that the primary information behind his death is that he was a well-known serious thief in the area. Inquiries into the matter are underway, and efforts to apprehend those involved are being made so that they can be brought to book to answer charges accordingly.
