KAMPALA- The Police in Kampala have confirmed that three people have been killed in an accident that occurred today afternoon at Lugogo on Jinja Road, next to the cricket oval.
The Traffic Police Spokesman Micheal Kananura told journalists that Fuso truck ferrying crates of soda, lost control and rammed into a box body truck which hit a bodaboda rider and two pedestrians who died on spot.
The section of the road was closed and traffic paralysed for about two hours as motorists were diverted to other routes as the Police removed the dead bodies of the victims whose identities were not revealed.
Meanwhile the Police in Kabale District have registered a fatal road accident that claimed the life of a 33 year old boda boda rider identified as Ngabirano Wilber a resident of Kiyora village in Kitumba Sub-county along Kabale – Lake Bunyonyi murram road.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the accident that involved motor vehicle registration number UBB 675Y driven by unknown driver who is on run and motorcycle registration number UEY 865V ridden by the deceased.
Maate explained that motor vehicle registration number no UBB 675 Y was carrying aggregate stones from Lake Bunyonyi side to Kabale and the rider of the Motorcycle was from the same direction ahead of the motor vehicle but due to the brake failure, the driver failed to control the vehicle and ended up knocking the rider from behind who died on the way to the hospital.
Maate said that the police were notified, the scene was visited by the Officer in Charge of Traffic Mucunguzi and team, sketch plan drown, statements recorded and the body of the rider taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination while the truck and motorcycle are parked at Kabale Central Police Station yard pending IoV inspection and the Police attributed the cause of the accident to brake failure.
