KABALE- Gideon Tumwijukye, a news reporter at 90.6 Peak FM Kabale, has emerged victorious in the election for a media representative at the Kabale Municipal Development Forum. He secured 31 votes, defeating Jimmy Emmanuel, a reporter at 89.5 Voice of Kigezi, who garnered only 3 votes.
The election, held at the mayor’s gardens in Kabale Municipal Council, brought together media practitioners from various media houses in Kabale.
Both candidates presented their manifestos, pledging to bridge the gap between the media fraternity and the municipal council.

Gideon Tumwijukye expressed gratitude to the media practitioners for choosing him as their representative, promising to represent the media regardless of their house status.
“I’m not going there as Gideon of Peak FM, but as Gideon of the media fraternity,” he said.

Jimmy Emmanuel, who was represented by Abraham Orishaba from Voice of Kigezi, vowed to work with the elected representative.
Media practitioners Sophan Niwamanya from Peak FM and Arineitwe Julius Emmanuel congratulated Gideon Tumwijukye on his victory.
Niwagaba Emmanuel, the Community Development Officer (CDO) for Kabale Municipality, declared Gideon Tumwijukye the winner after counting the votes.
