NEWS- Hon Catherine Ndamira Atwakiire, the Kabale district woman Member of Parliament on Sunday November 19th 2023 witnessed the confirmation of 825 Christians into the Catholic faith at Our lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral, a sacrament that was performed by Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, the Bishop of Kabale Diocese.
Bishop Rubaramira urged the confirmands to follow the footsteps of the disciples who started preaching the Gospel after receiving the Holy Spirit.
Hon Catherine Ndamira welcomed the Bishop’s message and thanked him for his commitment in serving the people of God, especially by moving around the diocese confirming Christians into the Catholic faith. The legislator urged the confirmands to know and use their talents well in developing themselves, feel proud of them, and help each other as they have different talents and gifts.
Hon. Ndamira also called upon parents to give time to their children who are going for holidays, always advise and listen to them, give them what to do to keep them away from bad peer groups which may lead them into alcoholism and narcotics showing concern over youths who are neglected by their parents ending up in such peer groups.
Hon Nshangabasheija Nelson, the Kabale district boss welcomed and thanked the Bishop for confirming many Christians all over the deanery into the Catholic faith before commending Hon Catherine Ndamira Atwakiire, the woman MP Kabale district and Hon Wilfred Niwagaba Rugamba’amazima for joining the Bishop in witnessing the confirmation in all the parishes of Rushoroza deanery including Christ the King Kabale, Maziba parish, Buhara parish, Rwanyana and Rushoroza as well as the support she is offering towards the development of the district.
Hon Nshangabasheija, pledged to maximum support to Hon Ndamira on behalf of Christians of Kabale deanery and the district at large for she is always available for the church and the district at large. The district boss added that as the chairman of Road’s committee Kabale district local government, Hon Ndamira launched a 1Bn road fund to maintain the roads in the district.
Rt. Rev Callist Rubaramira in his homily urged the confirmands to be well behaved, respect themselves as they are filled with the Holy Spirit, and follow the footsteps of St Paul if they are to be good Christians and citizens.Referring to today’s Gospel, the Bishop called upon the confirmands to love their faith and remain committed to it, as they have been fully confirmed, walk in the light of Jesus and make sure their candles keep burning.
The Bishop also called upon the confirmands to respect and respond to their talents stressing that no one should fight for one’s talents, as people have different talents, urging them to help each other using different talents. Pointing his concern on some people killing others for their talents, the Bishop called upon everyone to pray to God and through the Holy Spirit remind them of their talents and how to fulfill them.
Bishop Rubaramira commended Hon Ndamira Atwakiire and Hon Wilfred Niwagaba Rugamba’amazima for always being available for the church, and thanked them for witnessing the confirmation of Christians into Catholic faith in all the parishes of the deanery. The prelate also called upon the parents to embrace the education of their children which will help in securing their future.
He also urged the Christians to practice agriculture saying that they already have manure got from the pigs which were donated by Hon Ndamira, and called them upon to at least have three trees of Avocado in their compounds which will help them get income for their families’ development.
