Ekijumeero Kya Radio Ankole launched

NTUNGAMO- Radio Ankole’s 20 years of existence celebration dubbed “Ekijumeero Kya Radio Ankole” has been officially launched at Ankole Resort and Spa in Ntungamo Municipality, Ntungamo District.

The Director Hon. Mwesigwa Rukutana while launching the event revealed that the main reason for organizing this celebration which will be held on 5th July 2025 at Kyamate playground is a way of giving back to the community that has supported the radio station since its inception.

Rukutana disclosed that they started this radio station in a bid to bring services closer to the community in form of educating, entertaining, sensitizing, informing and promoting unity amongst the people of Ntungamo.

The Ntungamo District chairperson Sam Mucunguzi Rwakigooba Salongo hailed the directors of Radio Ankole, the station that has united all the people of Ntungamo.

The Station Manager Elly Katahinga hailed the directors of Radio Ankole this great station that has employed numerous people from Ntungamo and beyond, hence improving their livelihoods.

Katahinga hailed the former station Manager, the late Elliot Kabangira Magande, the former assistant manager the late Musana Thomas, the former Head of security the late Wilson Byakatonda and one of the Directors the late Lay Canon Constance Kabonero for laying a strong foundation on which the radio station stands.

He disclosed that Radio Ankole has been ranked the second best radio station by Ipsos for the fourth consecutive time owing this to the vibrant staff and the strong listenership.

Jackie Rwakakooko, the Station Advisor hailed the agents and listeners for the much support in preparations of Ekijumeero kya Radio Ankole noting that it wouldn’t have been possible to start this arrangement without their effort.

Immaculate Kyomukama, the station Accountant lauded the business partners and radio agents who have contributed alot of revenue to the station hence easing its operations.

Kyomukama noted that the entry fees will be UGX 10,000 for ordinary tickets, UGX 20,000 for VIP, a table at 500,000 and platinum table at 1M.

The former Accountant Lay Canon Ezekiel Tumwesigye noted that Radio Ankole is a model radio station because of educative and transformative programs which have shaped the community.

Perez Rumanzi, the Head of Radio Ankole Ekijumeero mobilization team revealed that this  anniversary is fully supported by its listeners and well-wishers manifesting the great love they have towards it.

The Ntungamo District based first Radio station announced its 20th anniversary featuring various activities such as football, tree planting to conserve the environment alongside entertainment which will attract both local and national artists of all categories.

The day’s lead artiste will be Mansoor Ssemanda aka King Saha, together with a number of fellow musicians from the National scene and regional ones.
