NEWS– The Police in Rwampara District are holding 2 suspects and are hunting for 8 others in the connection with the murder of a 14 year old boy whose body was recovered dumped in River Rwizi.

The Rwizi Regional Police Spokesman Samson Kasasira told journalists on Wednesday that 14 year old teenager identified as Ssenyondo Mariamungu a resident of Kikonkoma village in Kikonkoma Ward, Kabura Town Council in Rwampara District.

Kasasira explain that it is alleged that on 1st January 2024, 8 family members that included Nalongo Korubaro a step mother to the deceased got hold of him on allegations of stealing clothes and phones belonging to some of the suspects.

Its alleged that the suspects beat the deceased until he revealed where he had hidden the stolen items and led the suspects to Nyeihanga Town Council where the property was recovered and thereafter went back home with him in Kikonkoma village at the residence of Nalongo Korubaro where they tortured him to death.

Kasasira said that its alleged that on 3rd January 2024, at around midnight the suspects hired a vehicle belonging to Agaba Owen and put the dead body and drove it to Mbarara City along the Mbarara- Masha Road in company of Mweteise Micheal and Arinaitwe Patrick and dumped the body into River Rwizi 

However, trouble started when the mother of the deceased, Ms Kobusingye Evalyne, a resident of Kicwamba in Mbarara City South reported the matter to Police after getting information of the incident that his son was missing that led to the arrest of Mweteise Michael, Arinaitwe Patrick and Agaba Owen 

Kasasira said that when the suspects were interrogated, they revealed what had occurred and all those involved, and a search for the body of the deceased started until it was recovered and retrieved from River Rwizi in Mbarara City in decomposing state on Tuesday.

Its reported that all the suspects involved in the matter are close relatives to the deceased who raised him from childhood after the mother separated with the father in Mityana District and handed him over to one of the suspects who is also a step mother Nalongo Korubaro.
